The BUSY School in Shailer Park is set to get new classrooms, a tuckshop, administration areas and amenities.
The school is geared towards helping students with disability, and provides alternative learning for those who need to re-engage with school while getting a head start into employment.
It means students get can learn life skills and have the opportunity to start paid employment and training while still at school.
The federal government has chipped in with $840,000 for the new facilities.
“Students and staff at The BUSY School will benefit from the conversion of a commercial premises into five classrooms, an arts and music room, a resource room, breakout spaces, a staff work room and an office and reception area,” Member for Forde Bert van Manen said.
“The project will also feature a new tuckshop, new student amenities, including for students with disability, as well as a kitchen, a communications room, store rooms, and a lift and stairs to improve accessibility.
“The BUSY School has a wonderful school community, and these new facilities will further enhance the learning environment.”
Mr van Manen said students and teachers thrive when their schools have modern and up-to-date facilities.
