The humble sausage sizzle has brought together community allies.
The Lions Clubs of Woodridge Kingston and Logan South-East have been serving students, parents and teachers a saussage sizzle breakfast throughout the year at St Francis College, Crestmead.
And the connection, resulting from a start to the year tainted by ongoing Covid challenges, has become more than a breakfast ritual.
The club, identifying that the College kitchen needed an overhaul, submitted a grant application to Logan City Council.
Toasters, kitchen utensils and cleaning gear was all replaced.
“We were very pleased to have been able to undertake this project and continue our valuable partnership and friendship with the college,” Lions Club of Woodridge Kingston member Ms Julie Holden said.
At the college’s end of year awards ceremony, a “Spirit of St Francis Award” was presented to aspiring IT professional and Year 12 student, Jerrymaih I’iga.
The award recognises students who demonstrate school values of simplicity, compassion, harmony, and service through daily interactions.
St Francis College Crestmead principal John Marinucci said the shared values between the college and Lions clubs were key to the success of the relationship.
“We are grateful to the Lions who have been here to support the college through some pretty trying times this year,” Mr Marinucci said.
“Our college and Lions International share common values which form the foundation of our fruitful connection.
“We look forward to continuing the relationship in 2023 and beyond.”
