Marsden gains top honours

Congratulations to the teachers, staff, students, and parents of Marsden State High School who walked away with top honours at the 2022 Australian Education Awards.

Marsden SHS was named Secondary School of the Year and Best Professional Learning Development Program. Alison Fahlbusch was also awarded Principal of the Year at the awards ceremony in Sydney early in August.

It is the third year running the school has taken out the top gong for Principal of the Year, with Kylie Steinhardt winning in 2021 and executive principal Andrew Peach winning in 2020.

Marsden SHS, Australia’s largest school with more than 3600 students, has now taken home the title of Secondary School of the Year twice in the past three years.

These awards are recognition of the hard work and dedication of the entire school community and their commitment to striving for excellence and should be a source of great pride for the school and the entire Logan region.

Marsden has also been able to strike a balance as an academic and sporting powerhouse with NRL legend Cameron Smith and cross-code footballer Israel Folau among its former students.

The school has also become a much sought after destination for education professionals who are not only striving to join the academic staff, but they are also more than happy to stay with a 94 per cent retention rate.

Without doubt the entire education system across the country has suffered severe disruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At a time when we hear how our education system is struggling to cope and that teachers and students are buckling under the pressure it is good to share this great news.

Once again, well done to everyone at Marsden State High School for your ongoing success and national recognition of a job well done.
