I am passionate about delivering meaningful outcomes for residents, some of these outcomes will be mentioned in the questions below.
I am passionate about working diligently for my residents. After I completed my Psychology Degree in 2016, I worked as a Child Safety Officer for 14 months, this was prior to being elected as the Councillor for Division 7.
Working in that field enabled me to work for some of the most vulnerable children in Queensland. Working for Child Safety, demonstrated to me how much the children, parents and carers value my attributes of honesty, being a person who follows through with everything they say and someone who will fight for them.
As someone working for Child Safety, I found the career rewarding, particularly when I was able to deliver meaningful changes in the lives of the children I case managed.
I also worked as a Fitter and Turner for 18 years. This career taught me how to be patient, methodical and compassionate towards those who did not yet have the skills necessary to complete a task. I also completed my degree over the space of ten years while working full time in the trade, this was challenging.
Another career I had was as a soldier in the Army Reserve. I completed the bulk of my training before I became an adult and found the career challenging in a good way. I learned to rely on the experience of others to complete difficult tasks.
Why should people vote for you?
My on the job experiences as a Child Safety Officer, Fitter and Turner and Soldier have shaped me to become someone who is empathetic, patient, driven, compassionate, community minded, willing to learn from others and self driven. These attributes enable me to never give up until I get a good outcome for the residents of Division 7 particularly for those most vulnerable.
What would you aim to deliver for your community?
I will aim to deliver good outcomes for the community by focusing on five main areas:
Rates and charges value for money- I wholeheartedly support any initiative that saves rate payers’ funds. Examples of this are the CEO’s value for money program which saves rate payers millions of dollars each year by eliminating inefficiencies. Another example is the gasification and solar farm projects at the Loganholme Wastewater Treatment Plant. This project will provide a return on investment in less than 10 years, saving rate payers millions of dollars each year, once the return is realised.
This term Council has delivered some of the lowest bottom line rates and charges budgets because of the strategic decisions which I was a part of the Team of making decisions regarding cost savings measures without cutting services or selling any assets. From my point of view, supporting cuts to services or asset sales is not a viable option, it would be to the detriment of residents.
Improved parks- I have and will continue to support investment in upgrading our local parks to allow residents of all ages to better enjoy our wonderful open spaces. This is achieved by providing better embellishments in our parks. I would like to continue to support further stages in the parks that have received upgrades this term and add more to the list.
Improved traffic safety- I have and will continue to support projects that make our local streets less attractive for rat runners who also speed on our streets. I have also supported signs that alert residents when they are speeding in high trafficked areas where wildlife is frequently on the move. These two projects help to make our streets safer by reducing speeding which can lead to fatalities.
Next term I will support a safety solution to upgrading Fedrick St Boronia Heights at the Mt Lindesay Hwy end of the street. This was announced last year on my social media page with the rationale in the comments.
Traffic improvements that I have supported along with Divisional co funding support from two of my Councillor colleagues are on Crest Rd for Park Ridge State High School student safety.

Community Safety- I have supported and will continue to support the Council camera program where I only support the expenditure of new cameras and poles in high priority locations.

Community engagement- I will also continue to show up to all school P and C meetings and  Neighbourhood Watch meetings (where my calendar permits me to) to ensure that I am engaged with the views and wishes of residents and school groups.
I will continue to hold mobile offices and regularly engage with the Divisional sporting and Community groups to ensure their needs are met.
Why did you decide to run for council?
I always had a passion for representing people, I was the head Union delegate at my workplace for a decade. Becoming a Councillor was attractive to me because it would allow me to represent residents and make a real difference in my community.
What suburb do you live in?
Left blank for safety reasons.
How long have you been in the area?
In Logan West for 4.5 years.

In 250 words or less, tell us about yourself and your community attributes.
For over 20 years my wife and I have called Boronia Heights home, where we have raised a family and weathered the ebb and flow of life’s ups and downs. Council is the closest level of Government to the people.  We rely on Council for our local roads, the footpaths that link our schools and shopping centres, the parks that our kids play in, and Council needs to manage these responsibly using the rates that we pay.
Why did you decide to run for council?
I want to make sure that our voices are heard, this why I have chosen to run as an independent for Division 7.
Why should people vote for you? What would you aim to deliver for your community?
I bring extensive community experience and a robust plan for Division 7.  This vision includes safer neighbourhoods with a focus on crime prevention, improved connectivity through better footpaths and school collaborations, upgraded playgrounds, enhanced public transport with a push for the Salisbury to Beaudesert rail line, greener suburbs through tree planting and community gardens and ensuring value for residents rates.
My plan aims to make Division 7 safer, more connected and environmentally friendly, fostering a vibrant community for all.
