Logan a land of creativity

Logan’s businesses are resourceful and creative.  Their ability to keep inventing matters – because with it comes the future of manufacturing and jobs for our region.  It means opportunity.

But sometimes businesses need a little bit of help to get bring their innovative products to market. That’s why the Morrison government created the Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre (AMGC) – an organisation that helps drive innovation, productivity and competitiveness across Australia’s manufacturing industry.

In other words, it helps turn ideas into jobs. It does this through the $30 million Commercialisation Fund, which is already helping create jobs in Logan.

Commercialisation Fund grants help Australian manufacturing businesses to scale up their operations, commercialise their work, and bring them into new Australian and international markets.

Just last week the Morrison Government announced that Technofast – a precision engineering company based in Crestmead – would receive $259,000 as part of the $11.68 million awarded under the latest round of Commercialisation Fund grants.

The grant will help fund the commercial development of the company’s hydraulic equipment, which offers improved outcomes for maintenance and worker safety when fitted to rock and ore crushing equipment in mining and quarrying industries.

The company is a tremendous success story. Its EziTite Hydraulic Head Nut reduces downtime and maintenance problems, improves productivity, and minimises the risk of personal injury and collateral damage to capital equipment during blade and tool changes. It’s an innovative product with tens of thousands of possible applications worldwide. As it succeeds, so too do the Logan locals who work there – gaining skills, earning a living and achieving their goals.

This this is just one of the 55 ground-breaking projects that have been supported by Commercialisation Fund grants so far – including 24 new grants awarded under this tranche.

This funding supports projects within the Morrison Government’s six National Manufacturing Priorities; Medical Products, Food and Beverage, Resources Technology and Critical Minerals Processing, Recycling and Clean Energy, Defence, and Space.  In doing so we are building our nation’s ability to meet the needs of Australians, and our ability to supply the world.

This is just one of the ways the Morrison government is helping to drive economic growth and job creation in Queensland and around the country. Which means more opportunity for Logan.
