A group of Logan locals allegedly involved in a series of armed robberies over the weekend have been charged.
The accused, a 14-year-old boy from Eagleby, a 15-year-old boy from Crestmead and an 18-year-old man from Woodridge, along with a 15-year-old boy from Coomera, allegedly robbed stores across Logan, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Police will allege the chain of robberies began shortly before 3.30am on Sunday (23 July), when one of the boys entered a service station on Gardiner Road at Holmview, threated an employee with a gun and demanded the till.
The employee complied and was physicially uninjured.
The boy allegedly left the station in a blue 2014 Audi S3 that was reported stolen from a Clover Way property at Helensvale the day before.
Then, at 3.35am, a boy armed with a gun stole a cash register from a service station on Juers Road at Kingston, before fleeing in the same Audi.
No one was physically injured.
At 6am, the group allegedly robbed a cafe on Alexandria Street at Ascot while armed, and then travelled to the Gold Coast while being tracked by police and Polair.
Around 9.30am, the Audi was seen travelling south on the Pacific Motorway near Coomera.
20 minutes later, it allegedly crashed into the rear of a Mazda 2 on Foxwell Road, and at 9.53, two members of the group allegedy fled the vehicle on foot.
One of them allegedly injured a woman and child on Beattie Drive while fleeing, and he was taken in to police custody along Waterways Drive.
Police allegedly found a gun nearby.
Two other members were taken in by police just after 10am, after the successful deployment of tyre deflation device caused the car – that was later found to contain another two guns – to come to a stop along George Street.
Police caught them near a Beenleigh marketplace.
The Woodridge man was charged with armed robbery in company will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
The 15-year-old Crestmead boy has been charged with one count each of enter dwelling and commit, unlawful use of motor vehicle and armed robbery, and is due to appear at Beenleigh Childrens Court at a later date.
A 14-year-old Eagleby boy was charged with one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicle and receiving tainted property.
A 15-year-old Coomera boy was charged with one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicle and dangerous operation of a vehicle.
