Anxiety now turns to flooding, and according to the weather bureau, flooding is likely to develop along the Albert River and further downstream along the Logan River.

It will however, be a slow burn, with river levels not expected to reach their peak until tomorrow, regardless of how much rain we get.

From the latest warning report: “During Saturday, forecast heavy to intense rainfall has the potential to cause dangerous and rapid river level rises along the Logan and Albert rivers and its tributaries. Major flooding is possible from Sunday morning with forecast rainfall, and further rises are possible over the next several days.”

It’s notable that the next report won’t be until late this afternoon, so a far cry from the hourly briefings we were getting for the cyclone last night.

Alfred lies off Bribie Island and is moving slowly north.

Despite its weakening, heavy rainfall is likely to continue over southeast Queensland and northeast New South Wales during the weekend.

Due to the heavy rain, Logan and Albert rivers are either rising or steady.

There are currently 34,777 homes without power across Logan.

Remember, to keep those generators outside if you’re planning on using one.
