What the…car?

Was it local teenagers running amok, or a bloke thinking he could make it home after one too many drinks at the pub?

It could be neither, because no one knows for certain how a car ended up where it did – suspended off a pedestrian bridge connecting a park to the Eagle Tavern at Eagleby.

But people have their suspicions.

Nevertheless, the Ford Fairlane was parked on the bridge, off Fryar Road, for three days earlier this month.

It was found abandoned on Sunday 9 February, according to authorities.

Five wooden palets were also found underneath the side of the car hanging from the bridge.

Some locals believe the palets were used to help the car make it the rest of the way across.

One resident captured footage of a shirtless man at the car, who another resident says was drunk.

Another photo shows the man with a deep gash to the back of his head.

By Wednesday morning, the car’s number plates, brand emblem, tail lights and wheels had been stripped, while its windows and a side mirror had been smashed.

Drapped across the front and back of the car was tape that read: COUNCIL AWARE.

A spokesperson from Logan City Council said that week the Queensland Police Service was alerted of the car by council, and was investigating.

A police spokesperson said a tow had been requested by police on behalf of council

“The owner had the vehicle towed from the park at lunchtime today,” the council spokesperson said.
