The Logan West Ambulance station has been gifted a game-changing piece of medical equipment.
The station received a Razier II patient lifting chair, a mobile device enabling a fallen person who cannot get up to reach a standing position.
The device is easily transportable and can be operated by a single paramedic.
Often, more than one paramedic is required to assist a person who has fallen, particularly if they are unconscious and it can take up to two and a half hours before extra help arrives.
The station was presented with the chair by the Logan and Districts Local Ambulance Committee.
Its purchase was funded by the Lions Club of Brisbane Chinese for almost $6000.
Until now, two chairs were being shared amongst eight ambulance stations in Logan, and two more may be on their way.
The ultimate goal is to have one chair in every station in Logan.
