Leaving leafy heights

Tanya and Geoff Sippel moved into their dream home at Shailer Park after a long and exhausting building process filled with soaring prices and precarious builders.

But now, only four years later, they’re already moving on – leaving their specially designed “treehouse” home behind.

“We initially had a little bit of a struggle to build it, but we finally got an excellent builder – a father and son team – and they built it in no time,” she said.

“We have loved it but we are moving to a lowset house because my mum is with us now.

“It’s like our treehouse – I remember when they first put that top floor in and I looked out and thought, this is going to be so nice.”

Ms Sippel said the five-bedroom house was ideal for families who love being close to nature but prefer an easy-maintenance home.

Upstairs there’s a home office, bedroom, plenty of storage space, and a master suite with views of the surrounding bushland.

The master offers a walk-through wardrobe and an ensuite bathroom that includes a walk-in shower and a freestanding bathtub.

Natural light fills the living and dining area, which leads to an elevated outdoor deck perfect for hosting parties or barbeques.

The space includes a cosy lounge with a gas fireplace for colder nights.

Downstairs was designed for relaxation, with a lounge that can turn into a home theatre or open up to a covered outdoor area for entertaining.

There are three bedrooms, all with built-in closets, as well as a main bathroom and a separate toilet.

There are also provisions for a kitchenette, with a potential for multi-generational living.

And the Sippel’s aren’t the only fans.

Sales agent Narnea Dowell from RE/MAX Revolution said there was strong local and interstate interest in the property.

“We met 75 groups of buyers and received 11 offers with just 23 days on the market,” Ms Dowell said.

“The modern aesthetic set amongst the leafy outlook drew in the crowds because the home has been cleverly designed to be low maintenance, yet in a tree-top setting you feel as if you are living in a rural setting.”

And although it’s located in a “tightly held pocket” of Shailer Park, the property is close to all their needs.

Three schools are within 15 minutes distance and it’s only three minutes to the Hyperdome and motorway.
