Just divert one section?

When a rail-trail is planned along an old disused rail corridor, why cannot one section of it be diverted if it impacts on the lives, safety and mental health of elderly residents in two Palm Lakes retirement villages – which are gated and secure for the residents’ happiness and safety.

The rail line divides both resorts, but the facilities and functions of both resorts are shared by all elderly residents, who in their time made this country what it is today for our politicians to enjoy, served our country and lost loved ones for our freedom.

I am sure a wire fence on either side of the track will give residents security, privacy and peace of mind in their retirement.

Why can’t these voices be heard?

If an endangered insect, animal, or aboriginal artifact was found on the line it would be diverted immediately.

The figures being bandied around on tourists using the rail-trail and the money it will bring to Logan are purely put forward to make a project go ahead that is not warranted and for a very minor section of the community.

The cost has escalated from $7 to $13 million and the project is still in the planning stage, once again common sense says this is not the final figure.

What about maintenance costs after it has been built, I imagine hundreds of thousands each year.

Hospitals, roads and crime are at crisis point in Logan and Queensland, but our wonderful politicians inform us they have everything under control and our money should be spent on keeping minority groups happy as their votes are needed.

Maybe our state government and local council should give Mr Google away and use what God gave them to use – a brain and good old common-sense.
