Innovative app changes the game

In a groundbreaking development for the field of behavior support, local NDIS providers have created a Behavior Support Data Analysis App (BS-DAP).

This innovative application, which is fully compatible with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) legislation, is set to transform the way individuals with disabilities and their support networks track and manage challenging behaviors.

BS-DAP provides a platform for creating a “Behavior Support Village” by allowing users to share their individual behavior support profiles with an array of crucial stakeholders, including extended family members, carers, support coordinators, teachers, disability support workers, and allied health professionals.

This collaborative approach aims to enhance the quality of care and support provided to participants while streamlining the documentation and analysis of challenging behaviors.

One of the significant issues faced by those involved in behavior support is the tracking and reporting of challenging behaviors.

BS-DAP has effectively addressed this issue by simplifying the process into a convenient “tick and flick” application. Users can now document behaviors from various sources and create detailed, evidence-based reports in real time with ease.

The BS-DAP is designed to be highly personalised, with the initial input being provided by the participant’s Behavior Support Practitioner.

This comprehensive profile is then accessible to parents, carers, support coordinators, schools, and allied health professionals, allowing for in-depth analysis of the frequency, duration, and intensity of behavioral outbursts.

Furthermore, the app facilitates the examination of correlations between behavior and various factors such as the time of day, day of the week, activities, antecedents, and setting events. Users can also analyze emotional, environmental, and health factors that may influence these behaviors.

One of the standout features of BS-DAP is its ability to empower Behavior Support Practitioners to actively monitor and report on the success of behavioral interventions.

This means a more responsive approach to Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP), resulting in greater quality outcomes for participants. The application also ensures that care plan management remains flexible and adaptable as the needs of participants evolve over time.

By offering individualised, data-driven analysis, the app enables the creation of evidence-based reports. This not only reduces the time spent on collating evidence and generating reports and graphs but also ensures that each participant receives the tailored support they need while maximizing the benefits of their NDIS Plan.

One of the standout benefits of BS-DAP is its ability to provide practitioners with the evidence necessary for developing comprehensive fade-out plans for restrictive practices. This aligns perfectly with the ongoing efforts to minimise the use of such practices in disability support.
