I note that the dirtiest streets in Logan are Blackwood Road, Croydon Road and Defiance Street in Logan Central/Woodridge.
I live in Blackwood road and recently I took a ride on my pushbike. I was disgusted by the amount of litter on the streets, as there always is in those streets.
Logan City Council seems to regularly neglect those streets for sending a crew to pick up the litter.
Ever since I have lived in Logan these streets have been filthy and unfortunately I live in one of them.
How hard is it to get a crew to do an “emu pick” once a week?
Other councils do it in their commercial areas. Blackwood Road is a commercial area, isn’t it?
In my life I have lived in three states and the ACT, in maybe 20 LGAs, and without a doubt Logan City is the dirtiest of all of them.
I took a trip to the town of Millmerrin last week and I saw one piece of litter on the street there.
Toowoomba was also very clean.
Do you have road crews that Emu Bob? I can’t remember ever seeing a Logan City worker with a stiff broom in the street in years of living here.
Sure, some blame can go to the residents, many of whom are socially disadvantaged, but council needs to take some blame as well.
I took a ride on my bike down the street of the local councillor the same day and funny, I didn’t see a single paper in that street.
I worked for a council once and I know bosses get anxious about streets where the sitting councillors live. And those bosses make sure those streets issues are maintained.
Surely in the CBD of Woodridge and its locality some more effort can be put in. It has been filthy for years. Council has no excuse for this.
The 3Rs is what residents want.
I am pleased to see that Logan City councilors are all getting personal advisors from this budget, paid for from a rate increase that could employ maybe 20 street cleaning staff.
