I’m mightily p***ed off.
I hate wearing a mask when I go to the supermarket, particularly when I get halfway from the car and realise I’ve left the dreaded mask in the car.
I’ve tried a few of them and they all feel bloody awful, like I’m breathing through sandpaper.
I’m not an especially law abiding person and I’ve had a few scrapes with the law over the years.
But Covid is important enough, it’s killed enough people, including my uncle, so I do the right thing.
Many others don’t and it really irritates me to see the many idiots who refuse to wear masks.
There are security guards at Coles at Logan Central but they do nothing to enforce the rules, ignoring idiots who enter the store without a mask in sight.
And it’s the same at Woolworths at Chatswood Hills, no security guards there but none of the staff seem to care.
What’s the point in putting up notices saying masks are required if nothing is done to enforce the rules?
The store people would only have to knock the idiots back once and the imbeciles would learn.
I know the shops are short staffed thanks to Covid and they may not be able to catch the idiots on the way in but surely the checkout people could refuse to serve non-mask wearers.
Yes, it would mean the would-be customers would be mightily upset and the stores would lose a dollar or two but the lesson would be learnt and hopefully remembered.
Sure, they could go somewhere else and that would probably be a huge inconvenience, bloody wonderful I reckon.
It would be even better if all the supermarkets and other mask-requiring place adopted the same attitude.
There would be plenty of unhappy people around but at least the people doing the right thing would be more comfortable if the miscreants were absent.
So how about it, is there any chance of the businesses taking a stand?
Their staff would cop a bit of flack but that could be avoided if they put up signs at the entrances saying idiots without masks would not be served at the checkouts which would mean that after their first embarrassing experience the idiots would toe the line.
I’m not holding my breath but who knows, if store managers read this letter maybe their head offices will let them do something.
I would be a great PR move that I’m sure would be appreciated by the law-abiding majority.
