The 2023 Australian Heritage Festival in Logan will start Wednesday 19 April and go into May.
The theme of the festival is ‘shared stories’.
Talks workshops and activities will be held at Logan libraries, Mayes Cottage and the Kingston Butter Factory.
Tomorrow at Logan Central Library, local heritage specialist Dr Hilda Maclean will discuss how to produce family stories in a workshop, from 10.30am to 11.30am.
In May, Dr Maclean will share the stories of pioneering Logan families, such as the Mayes family, from 12.30pm to 1.30pm on Saturday 20 May, at Mayes Cottage.
Other workshops will will feature guests such as author Caylie Jeffery, who will host a legacy storytelling session from 10am to 1pm on Saturday 13 May at the Kingston Butter Factory.
Attendees will learn how old letters, photographs and keepsakes can be used to capture stories and memories.
Throughout the festival, the stories of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families will be shared through an exhibition in the Living Museum of Logan.
