Got a favourite hospitality venue worth sharing?

Where have you eaten lately that’s left you with a great taste in your mouth?

They might have had great food, great service, or a great venue – nominate them for a business distinction award in the “hospitality” category.

Food is considered a key drawcard in Logan’s recently released tourism push, which means this category has a huge role to play in the future prosperity of the city.

We asked in-house food writer Honey Satiety to come up with five food spots she considers worthy of getting the discussion rolling.

Note, these are not in order – they’re just five she thinks might be among the city’s finest. She’s offered up some hidden gems, but stresses it’s by no means a “best of” list and nowhere near exhaustive.

Manok Park: At Underwood, this little restaurant is a little tucked away. But it’s a great journey into Korean food. The staff are friendly, the food an explosion of flavour, and the place buzzing.

Kulcha Culture: If you haven’t been to India, some of the menu items here might be a foreign language to many. But the friendly team will steer you through the mix of traditional Indian curries, and street food. This place on Kingston Rd is tidy, the service is great, and the food tasty.

Manyaman: Food from the Philippines isn’t usually front of mind when heading out on a Friday or Saturday night, but this place – which has moved to Grand Plaza Drive at Browns Plains – is well-priced, authentic, and yummy.

Simply Beans: It would be remiss not to include last year’s “hospitality” business distinction award winner in the list. Best known for their various types of house-blended coffee, they also have a cafe which serves up a great breakfast or lunch.

Jimboomba House: The golf club might have closed, but the restaurant is still open. They’re usually packed out from Thursday through the weekend with their traditional favourites, occasionally served with a creative twist from the chef.

Hospitality isn’t of course limited to eateries. There are some great clubs and pubs in the region which have become favourites and might be worthy of nomination.

It’s easy to nominate someone from the automotive industry who’s done a good job for you. If you do, they’ll be asked to be part of the awards.

Simply go to loganbusinessawards.com.au and click the “nominations are open” button.

You can also send nominations to MyCity Logan, PO Box 115, Waterford 4133, or by texting 0477 316 892.

“This is a real chance to rally around those who are the backbone of our local economy,” chamber president Stewart Fleming said.
