Last week’s (MyCity Logan, September 14-20) letter regarding the IPC climate change report was indeed shocking.
I was also shocked to see such non-scientific misinformation about carbon dioxide in the article, but Mr Wells can now read the facts and relax.
There is no evidence that the Earth is warming. In the past two years there have been three major cold weather events in North America and Spain.
recorded temperatures of minus 45 degrees celsius caused widespread frozen water pipes and many deaths. Climate change proponents ignored these facts.
Since the last ice age 10 million years ago, volcanic activity has been totally responsible for all our daily climate variations. Volcanic eruptions produced carbon dioxide which enabled plant growth.
CO2 and plants then produced oxygen for animals and humans. There can be no life without oxygen and no oxygen without carbon dioxide. This is basic proven science.
CO2 is a miniscule fringe gas with a residual atmospheric volume of around 400 parts per million or four parts per 10,000 (0.004%).
History gives us absolute proof that CO2 has no affect on climate. During the industrial revolution, for over 100 years, coal was the Earth’s power source. Coal-powered industry, trains, ships and warmed homes. The side effect was heavy air pollution but there was no catastrophic warming. No increase in air temperatures was recorded.
I have great difficulty understanding how trained scientists could theorise that carbon dioxide was causing any effect on our climate, contrary to their training with no proof or evidence.
Coal has been targeted as a problem fuel and demonised, but planes burning avgas and vehicles using petrol and diesel are bigger emitters of CO2. Should all these emitters be demonised also and closed down?
Coal is essential for reliable 24/7 power and for making steel, which renewable power currently cannot do, even with massive batteries.
How can world leaders believe this academic non-science of carbon dioxide caused global disaster? When will they realise their foolishness?
Did no-one require proof or apply the pub test of common sense?
Billions of dollars are being spent on unreliable power sources and wasted on CO2 reduction schemes, carbon “capture” and “credits” for not planting crops.
Footnote: The Chinese do not believe in carbon dioxide global warming. They are building 183 new coal-fired power stations. We and other western nations are bent on closing ours down.
