The Johnathan Thurston Academy has officially launched the life-changing JTLeadLikeAGirl program at Mardsen State High School.
Eighteen female students of First Nations’ heritage in grades 9, 10 and 11 have been selected by the school to take part in the program.
The program covers goal setting, developing leadership skills and working on a plan to build the career or life path the young women want for themselves.
Johnathan Thurston, who is managing director of his own academy, said the program had been designed to encourage, educate, empower and inspire young women to reach for their dreams.
“Our goal is to empower young women with self-belief and courage to reach their full potential,” Thurston said.
“As a community, we strive to inspire young women to be confident, bold, and goal-oriented, but most importantly—to be kind and shine a positive light on each other.
“There is power in numbers and unity, and we want every girl across our nation to be part of our exciting and thriving community.”
Thurston said he hoped through the program’s monthly workshops, participants would achieve personal growth and life success by being inspired.
“Our dream is to live in a world where women can live fearlessly and unapologetically. And our purpose is to work towards that dream by empowering one young Australian woman at a time,” he said.
