A water-safety program has dived into Logan pools, using play-based learning to raise awareness for young children.
The Frog Squad@the Splash Pad project, run by Logan City Council and Logan Libraries, will be hosted at the Beenleigh Aquatic Centre.
The free program involves story time, reading books, songs and water-safety themed activities to teach kids aged up to five.
The library team is using the ‘Kids Alive’ water-safety books to help the content reach the kids.
The sessions are designed for children, their families and carers.
The program’s first stage runs from 9.30am to 11.30am every Tuesday until June 20.
The second phase of the program will be held from 9.30am to 11.30am every Tuesday, between October 3 and December 12.
Participants are welcome to take part in some or all of the sessions.
Deputy mayor Laurie Koranski said the sessions were about having fun while learning.
“This program is all about having fun as well as developing the sensory and literacy skills of participants,” Ms Koranski said.
“We encourage everyone with young children to join in this special program and be part of the Frog Squad.”
