Four Logan groups receive funding through Cedar Woods community grants

Four community groups across Logan’s south will share in $10,000 through the latest round of grants linked to Cedar Woods Properties’ Flourish development at South Maclean.

The funding has been awarded through the developer’s national Community Grants program, with recipients including a walking football club, an army cadet support group, a mental health service and a wildlife rescue organisation.

Greenbank Over-50s Walking Football Club received $3000 to replace ageing equipment including goals, footballs, cones and uniforms.

Club president Chris Malyan said the group had grown from six members to 47 since forming in 2019, with players aged between 57 and 84 taking part several times a week.

The 149 Army Cadet Parent Group was awarded $2000 to upgrade a BBQ trailer used for fundraising and field exercises.

Parent group president Damien Coultis said the trailer also served as a mobile kitchen during cadet camps in isolated areas.

Impact Care Services, which operates at Slacks Creek and Jimboomba, received $3000 to support mental health services and emergency relief programs.

The Rotary Club of Southeast Wildlife Rescue was granted $2000 to repair and upgrade wildlife rescue equipment used across southeast Queensland.

Cedar Woods chief operating officer Patrick Archer said the grants aimed to support organisations that strengthened community connections across the growing South Maclean region.

The Flourish estate is expected to deliver more than 500 homes over the next four years.
