Cornubia’s 6-14 Sanctuary Drive is Rebecca Gillman and Paul Zietsch’s labour of love.
The property was tailored to suit their needs: fun, spacious and practical.
The couple has lived in the house for the past few years with their three children, two of whom are now adults and at university.
Ms Gillman said it was time for a new family to make memories in the five-bedroom, 500sqm home.
“We’re ready to downsize,” she said.
“The kids are older – two of them are at uni – it’s time to take that next step.”
Ms Gillman said when the home was designed, she was chasing something “spacious but on one level”
“It was a really steep block when we bought it, so there was lots and lots of work done to shape the block to allow for that,” she said.
“It took a couple of years to build.”
She said a lot of thought went into making the home practical.
“The laundry has an internal drying rack so you don’t need to go outside to the clothesline,” she said.
“The washer and dryer are built up off the ground so you don’t need to bend over, and the storage underneath is big enough to fit all the Costco bottles and shopping.
“There’s a second dishwasher, oven and sink in the butler’s pantry, so apart from a cooktop, it’s like there’s another kitchen just to make it more practical.
“Because the kids are a little older, it allows them to do their own thing and us to do our own thing – there’s a kids’ side of the house and an adults’ side of the house, and then the middle part where we can all join in together.”
The added features also allowed for friends to crash for the night, or family to stay for longer.
“Because we always have people over, there’s a queen-sized bedroom with its own ensuite,” Ms Gillman said.
Outside is just as spacious, with a 5000sqm block offering plenty of cleared space to kick the footy and play backyard cricket, followed by a dip in the pool to cool off.
Ms Gillman said her family has “absolutely loved it here”.
“It’s exciting that someone else will get to enjoy it in its entirety,” she said.
“My favourite part is the swimming pool area. We spend a lot of time out there; it’s just really well designed for everyone to have fun.
“Inside, the kitchen and the laundry I just love.”
There are other touches to the home that add to its liveability.
Ms Gillman said there were enough spots for everyone to park on the property, or even under cover.
“Out the front there is a circular driveway with a porte-cochere, so it’s almost like you’re pulling into a hotel,” she said.
“That allows extra parking for another two vehicles under cover, as well as the three-car driveway.”
It’s for all these reasons that Ms Gillman said a young family, or even a multigenerational one, would be perfect for her home.
“It will be a nice feeling if a family moves in with younger children,” she said.
