I refer to notifications recently on television and in your newspaper that flu jabs are free to everybody until June 30.
What irks me about all this is that only the older people seem to be taking up the offer.
When I went to the local pharmacy to claim my protection, there were about half a dozen people waiting, and four of them of retirement age.
There was also a young mother with her child, which I found encouraging.
Yet, when I went to the supermarket less than half an hour after receiving my shot, there were young people everywhere, coughing and spluttering within earshot.
I suppose the majority of them would be in their teens or early 20s.
As we get older, it’s natural that we become more responsible. And we’re also in need of extra help to keep us in good health.
But why is it that a younger population coming straight out of school are irresponsible and don’t seem to care about those around them?
What are they being taught in our schools?
