Emily Dalley believes she lives in the “perfect family” home at 47 St Andrews Drive at Cornubia, but the property is now on the market for a new family to enjoy.
The comfortable abode has been home to Ms Dalley, her husband Christopher, their three kids and two dogs for the past five years and she said the area was a “great neighbourhood with no break-ins”.
The Dalley’s are now relocating to Mackay for Mr Dalley’s work.
“No more flying in and out for him -he’ll just be driving home,” Mrs Dalley said.
“We’ve got family and everything up there too – it’s kind of our calling now.”
But deciding to move was no easy decision, she said.
“The kids have aunties, uncles and cousins in Mackay, so they’re looking forward to the move,” she said.
“It’s just me who doesn’t want to leave because I have everything I’ve ever wanted in this house and in this area.
“It took a while for everyone to convince me to move.”
Mrs Dalley said the Cornubia property, which is located in an exclusive estate, was the perfect home for a young family.
“From all of the main living areas you can see the pool, including the master bedroom so parents can be reading a book relaxing in their own bedroom, living room or cooking dinner in the kitchen and they can see the kids playing in the pool or playing in the backyard,” she said.
“It’s a very large outdoor entertaining space as well, and it’s not all covered by roof, which means the kids can play basketball and they can also throw a ball around on some concrete that’s not out on the road or in the street.
“It’s a perfect family home.”
Another feature Mrs Dalley said she was concerned to lose was the safety and security of living in the estate.
“Security checks everybody who comes through,” she said.
“They also drive around to make sure people are where they’re supposed to be – everyone who comes in and out is recorded, so it’s very safe.
“I’ve actually left my garage door open and the security have rung me up and let me know – they’ll also take your bins up when you’re going away.
“I’ve never felt more secure in a home or in an area before – we don’t have any break-ins, we don’t have any of those worries here.”
The estate also offers residents a golf course, tennis court, playground and swimming pool.
But one swimming pool wasn’t enough for the Dalley’s, so they built one in their backyard.
“It was a built about a year ago and it was ready, and then it was winter – so at least we got one summer out of it,” Mrs Dalley said.
“We’ve also upgraded the plumbing, the electrical, new paint, new ducted air-conditioning, and we’ve extended the alfresco area as well.”
