Congestion reprieve for residents entering and exiting Yarrabilba is edging closer, with works on a second access point to the fast-growing suburb “well underway”.
Meanwhile, construction of the intersection connecting the future road to the rest of Logan is expected to start in the coming months.
Costing $20 million – funded half by the Queensland government and half by the suburb’s developer, Stockland – the intersection will connect Waterford-Tamborine Road to a new road leading into Yarrabilba, to be called Jimbillunga Drive.
Works to build the 2.5km Jimbillunga Drive have already started, and will total $30 million, according to Stockland.
Project director Graeme Knox said the second connection would improve access for thousands of families.
Already, Yarrabilba is home to more than 15,000 residents. Once fully developed (expected sometime in the next 20-30 years), the area’s population is predicted to be around 50,000.
“This is an important milestone not only for Yarrabilba, but for the thousands of families who live, work and study here,” Mr Knox said.
“A second access point will make a significant difference to everyday life – easing congestion so Yarrabilba continues to thrive as one of Queensland’s leading growth areas.
“We welcome the support from the state government to bring this project forward. We are collaborating with all levels of government to deliver the infrastructure needed to support population growth and unlock future housing supply in south-east Queensland.”
Earlier this month, the state promised $10 towards the intersection.
Mayor Jon Raven said the works were a long time coming.
“While they’ll unlock housing, they’ll also provide a vital second exit for everyone in Yarrabilba,” Mayor Raven said.
“Logan is an amazing place to raise a family so I know there will be many more people moving to our city to enjoy the great lifestyle, community spirit and affordable homes we have available.”

Such a big effort getting people out of yarrabilba.but what about the rest of there route on the single lane roads they need to travel on.maybe use extra rates you are getting to upgrade those roads.or maybe plan ahead.
