A bid to improve Logan’s dining and night-time economy will see businesses receive free outdoor furniture and parklets.
Expressions of interest are now open for Logan City Council’s new Outdoor Furniture and Parklet Trial.
The trial, which will run until June next year, was inspired by Europe-style dining where “they throw down three pallets, put some board across the top, and all of a sudden there is seating for nine people outside a cafe”, according to one councillor.
Council has promised businesses will be able to trade “outside and longer”.
Mayor Jon Raven said the trial was designed to help grow the City of Logan after dark.
“We want to support Logan’s nighttime economy any way we can,” Cr Raven said.
“This trial will help local businesses to trade outside and stay open longer.
“As the youngest and fasting growing city in Queensland, I’m sure our residents will love the extra options for a night out.”
Applications close on 31 August, and can be made at: loed.com.au/outdoor-dining.
