A good old fashioned country vibe

Julie Killen is no stranger to the Logan Village area.

She used to work at the Logan Village pub for years, and says she sees familiar faces still roaming around the suburb.

“It’s got that old-fashioned friendly feel about it,” she said.

“I still see the regulars, so it makes it what Australia used to be.

“Sure, there are new people moving in, but it’s got an old feel about it.”

Ms Killen’s ties to the suburb remain strong, as she owns three houses in the area.

But she’s looking to downsize and to pass on some early inheritance to her children, hence the decision to sell the home she’s currently living in.

“Like everyone, in life we’re moving on with our age, so it’s time for me to make some decisions,” she said.

“And, well, the only people making any money are the banks.”

The house is on a 811 square metre block, which Ms Killen said was hard to find.

There’s a TV room at the back which lets in the sunlight.

And she said all the smaller rooms feed into the communal areas of the house.

“I’m often in that room, so it’s probably my favourite part of the house,” she said.

“And across the road is just parklands which is nice.

“The place is growing so there’s an increasing amount of traffic but compared to where I used to live before this, you can hardly hear it – it’s very nice.”

Ms Killen said the backyard was also an attraction.

“It’s a nice family home with a bit of space and you don’t have neighbours right on top of you,” she said.

“Even though you’re in the centre of town, it’s really very quiet.

“I know there are other suburbs where people feel a bit crammed in.

“It’s hard to get a quarter acre block these days, the old Australian dream.

“And when they do come along, someone does a sub-division on it.”

Ms Killen walks to Logan Village shopping strip where there’s a Woollies and a chemist, and she said most other things people need are there, including a doctor, specialists, mechanics, a bakery, and the every-day shopping needs.

It’s minutes from the pub, the skatepark, historical village.

And for families, Kings Christian College is nearby.

The house has ducted air-conditioning, a double garage with automatic door, and side access from a carport.

The master suite has a walk-in robe and ensuite, three other bedrooms have wardrobes, and a modern kitchen has a walk-in pantry.

At the back, there’s an undercover entertaining area, and there’s a separate laundry with outside access.

Agent Alison Veivers-Russell from Real Property Vibe at Beenleigh said the living area was tiled and there were elegant high-end window finishings.

Rates and water come to around $900 a quarter.

88 Towns Avenue is on the market for offers over $920,000.
