A group of young aspiring business people are networking every month to hone their skills for a life in the real world.
And the Beenleigh Yatala Junior Chamber of Commerce, they’re doing such a good job that they’re running a ledger in the black and look like being able to give back to the community.
Like most businesses, coronavirus is slowing progress with a number of schools not able to be represented due to their policy on social distancing.
“Most of us like being a part of our community,” executive Stella Pratt said.
“We run like a real chamber with guest speakers, and we still have more than 40 in attendance for most of our monthly breakfasts,” another of the executive committee Zoe Grambau said.
The Beenleigh Yatala Junior Chamber of Commerce has been a role model for a similar version set up under the supervision of Logan Chamber of Commerce.
At the last meeting, president Lachlan Gardener introduced speakers covering topics such as mental health, public speaking, the transition to university life, and charity and volunteering.
