Logan Village residents have so far been successful in resisting development to preserve the peaceful locality.
But their luck might have run out.
Last year, a development application was submitted to Logan City Council for a childcare centre, two food and drink outlets and a service station.
The development, if approved, is to be built on the corner of Hotz Road and Waterford Tamborine Road.
Opportunity for the public to have their say ran out last week, but many locals made submissions to council.
One resident, Debra Hartwell, collected 46 signatures on her petition.
“We absolutely do not need another petrol station in such close proximity to five others in the area of Logan Village and Yarrabilba,” Ms Hartwell said.
“We don’t need more fast food outlets in the area as there are now far too many in close proximity.
“We don’t need a childcare centre built right next to a petrol station.”
Ms Hartwell said she was concerned the development would “change the character” of Logan Village.
But far from a NIMBY, Mr Hartwell is calling for development – just not this kind.
“The community is crying out for a post office, fruit and veg stores, butchers, a decent local shopping centre, to name but a few,” she said.
The approval-status of the development application, submitted by Start Yarrabilba, is “undecided”.
A Logan City Council spokesperson told MyCityLogan council was waiting on a notice of compliance from the company.
“The application finished public notification on 31 May, 2023,” the spokesperson said.
“Council is waiting for the applicant to supply a notice of compliance with public notification.
“Upon receipt of this notice, council has 10 business days to consider the submissions, and then a further 25 business days to decide the application.”
