An issue of inspiration and pride

In today’s copy of MyCity Logan, there are numerous inspiration stories of those who are selflessly giving to others.

On page 3, there is the Tongan community and friends who’ve helped raise money for those impacted by the recent volcano and tsunami.

On page 4, there are stories of people who’ve given their lives to their communities and been recognised with Australia Day honours.

On page 8, Abdul Samim Khan has dedicated his time and wisdom to the growth of a football club, a place he’s able to break down cultural barriers within our community.

And then there’s Louise Pool who features on our cover this week. Ms Poole has fought her way back from from depression, and she’s openly sharing her experiences with large podcast audiences.

It is often said that mental illness needs to be spoken about.

The catch is that it takes the courage of those who’ve experienced mental illness to speak out.

Louise Poole has that courage. Consequently, she’s helping countless others experiencing similar thoughts and feelings, hopefully to steer them through their own demons.

As we are happy to repeat ad nauseum, Logan is a community which has each other’s back. It’s something to be extraordinarily proud of.
