A pat on the back where it’s due

We’ve definitely seen our fair share of frustration during one of the largest flood events the area has seen, with comparisons being made with 2017 and 1976 before that.

Why weren’t we told of the ensuing rain? Why weren’t warnings sent earlier? Why would we wait for more rain before we put the mud army into action?

The list of questions goes on, and time will tell that many of those questions were either justified or unfair.

Anyone who lives in the region was likely inconvenienced in some way by these floods – whether it be a closed road, or something out of stock at the supermarket, or that the park was closed.

There will be time to reflect on how things unfolded.

Now, we should be celebrating the great stories which have emerged from the floods – the kind-hearted people who opened their homes, their businesses, their restaurants, and those who without question rolled up their sleeves to help out a troubled neighbour.

That’s what Logan is about – resilience, getting on with what needs to be done.

It is likely that mistakes were made. It is also likely that the authorities used some sharp skills to keep us safe. In the meantime, let’s pat those on the back who deserve praise.
