Hey, kids! Want your ball back?
Keen paddler Ken Ignmatic has been exploring the swamplands around Slacks Creek for about 40 years, but rarely among the treetops as he was able to do during the height of the floods.
“I saw it flooded like this back in the 80s,” he said.
“There was a newspaper article back then about a fellow fishing who landed a decent flathead right off the soccer oval.”
It wasn’t far from the same oval he found all these soccer balls, near the junction of Slacks and Scrubby Creeks.
“It was through there that I spottted the first ball, then another and another until the kayak was full. I figured if the club didn’t want them back the local kids might get some fun with them.”
Spiders and lizards also hitched a ride to safety.
