Pair charged following alleged carpark attacks and robbery attempts

A Crestmead boy, 12, and a Slacks Creek boy, 13, have each been charged with attempted armed robbery and assault following a series of alleged incidents across Logan on Tuesday night.

Police allege the first incident happened at about 7pm in a commercial car park on Hakea Street at Crestmead.

A man, 29, was sitting in his white 2024 Suzuki Carry utility when police allege two boys approached him and asked to borrow his mobile phone.

Police allege the pair then pulled him from the vehicle and assaulted him.

They allegedly tried to take his car keys but ran off south when bystanders intervened.

About an hour later, at around 8pm, police allege the same two boys approached a man, 34, in a business car park on Browns Plains Road at Browns Plains.

The man had just returned to his white 2026 Haval Jolion station wagon.

The boys allegedly asked him for the time before assaulting him, threatening him with a knife and demanding his car keys.

When he refused, police allege the boys got into the man’s car and tried to take items but left empty-handed.

A third incident is alleged to have happened about 8.20pm at a nearby shopping centre on Browns Plains Road.

A 58-year-old man was in a public toilet when he was approached and assaulted by two boys, who then fled.

Police attended and, after further inquiries, located two boys at a nearby fast-food restaurant around 8.35pm and took them into custody.

None of the victims suffered serious physical injuries, police said.

Both boys are expected to appear in the Beenleigh Children’s Court on 30 April.

Investigations are continuing, police said.
