Logan City Council has begun work on its next budget, with early discussions highlighting growing financial pressure as the city expands.
At a Special Budget Committee meeting on Wednesday morning, officials outlined how costs were rising faster than revenue, driven by increasing demand for infrastructure and services.
Key pressures include employee costs, water contracts, waste levies and energy, alongside delays between collecting developer charges and delivering major infrastructure.
Council said the challenges are structural rather than short-term, warning financial flexibility could tighten without intervention.
Work will continue over the coming weeks as councillors weigh priorities for the year ahead.
