Building success for Logan, one step at a time

By Logan Mayor Jon Raven

Council teams are so busy working for the community, we don’t often get to slow down and
recognise the great progress happening in our city.

As mayor, I get to see the big wins and the small changes that make life in Logan a bit
easier.

And right now, there’s a lot going on.

Take Crestmead for example.

Work is underway at the Bumstead Road and Julie Street intersection.

We’re putting in new traffic lights, safer pedestrian crossings, and better lighting so people can see and be seen.

There’ll also be raised crossings to help people move in and out of Julie Street, plus bike lanes to support those who like to get around on two wheels.

Over in Logan Reserve, we’re doing similar work at School Road and Logan Reserve Road.

New lights and signalised crossings there will make a real difference, especially for families
heading to and from Logan Reserve State School.

Safety matters, but so does having places to get active, have fun, and spend time together.

That’s why it’s great to see strong use of our new 50-metre, eight-lane pool at Beenleigh
Aquatic Centre.

It opened in March and has already become a go-to spot.

Whether it’s kids in the water play area, families at the BBQs, or swimmers doing laps, it’s a space the whole community can enjoy.

And who knows, it might even help shape a future Olympian.

We’re also backing our local clubs.

A new rugby league clubhouse is now underway at Hammel Park for Beenleigh Juniors.

Jimboomba United Football Club has new changerooms, and the Park Ridge Active Riding Group is making the most of their upgraded undercover arena.

All of this work adds up.

It’s about building a city that’s safer, stronger, and a great place to live.
