Survivor Revival with Jennifer. B
Every community holds stories that are rarely spoken aloud.
Behind everyday smiles, school drop-offs, and chats at the local café, there are people quietly carrying experiences that have shaped them in ways others may never see. Many of them are survivors.
I know this because I am one of them.
My own journey has included surviving abuse, domestic violence, and the trauma of a childhood spent in a difficult children’s home. For many years, those experiences lived in silence. Like so many survivors, I believed my story was something to hide rather than something that might one day help others.
But survival changes you.
Over time, I started to see that stories hold power. When told with honesty and compassion, they can foster connection, understanding, and hope.
That realisation inspired me to create the Facebook page, Survivor Revival with Jennifer B, a space dedicated to resilience, healing, and the courage needed to rebuild a life after trauma.
Through writing, reflection, and shared experiences, Survivor Revival offers a place where survivors know they are not alone. It is also a place for the wider community to learn, listen, and understand the strength it takes for someone to move forward after adversity.
Communities are strongest when compassion leads the way. When people feel safe sharing their stories, understanding grows, and stigma begins to fade.
Each month in this column, I hope to explore themes of survival, healing, and resilience … not only my own journey, but the quiet strength that exists in communities like ours.
Because survival is not the end of the story.
Sometimes, that’s where the real story begins.
