New Yarrabilba precinct brings jobs closer to home

Yarrabilba’s new Dixon Circuit retail precinct has begun opening, with its first stage expected to support 155 jobs across food, retail and automotive businesses.

Hungry Jack’s and Subway are already trading, with Guzman y Gomez and JAX Tyres & Auto scheduled to follow in October.

The openings add workplaces as well as shops to a community the developer says is home to more than 19,000 people.

Stockland senior development manager Andrew Erzetich said creating local employment had been part of Yarrabilba’s planning from the outset.

“Yarrabilba already supports 1880 onsite jobs, and that number is expected to continue growing as the community develops,” Mr Erzetich said.

“We’re seeing a more diverse employment base emerge across retail, hospitality, health, education, construction and professional services, creating more opportunities for people to build their careers closer to where they live.”

Hungry Jack’s Queensland general manager Chris Smith Churchmichael said the new restaurant alone had created 75 local jobs.

“Alongside our franchisee Jason Harrington, we’re proud to have created 75 local jobs through the new Yarrabilba restaurant,” he said.

Stockland estimates show 155 jobs collectively across the first-stage businesses .

The precinct includes about 8000sqm of lettable space and 287 parking spaces, with uses including retail, dining, automotive services and indoor recreation.

A second stage is planned to add bulky-goods retail.

Dixon Circuit will also be home to MountView, a new apartment block.

The Dixon Circuit precinct will complement Yarrabilba’s major retail project, Yarrabilba Town Centre.

For residents, the immediate change is a growing range of services nearby, with further operators expected to open their doors over coming months.
