Police have launched an investigation into a three-vehicle crash at Kingston over the weekend that left a motorbike rider in critical condition.
Around 6.15pm on 15 June, police say a 2012 silver Mitsubishi Lancer sedan was travelling northbound on Kingston Road when it hit the rear of a 2008 Orange Suzuki motorcycle travelling in the same direction.
“The Mitsubishi continued for a short distance before colliding with a 2002 blue Toyota Camry sedan, which was stationary at a traffic light at the intersection of Opal Street,” a police statement read.
“The Mitsubishi then crossed over the median strip into the southbound lanes, where it came to rest.”
The motorbike rider, a 44-year-old man, suffered “significant head, chest and pelvic injuries” and was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.
The 40-year-old man behind the wheel of the Mitsubishi was taken to the Logan Community Hospital in a stable condition, according to police.
The 40-year-old female driver of the Toyota was uninjured.
The Forensic Crash Unit is now appealing for any witnesses – or anyone who may have dash-camera footage from around the intersection at the time of the crash – to come forward.
Investigations continue, police said.
