FOUR men will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today charged with the murder of a 21-year-old man at Bahrs Scrub last month.
Yesterday, detectives from the Logan District Criminal Investigation Branch and the Homicide Investigation Unit charged four people with murder – a 17-year-old Doolandella boy, an 18-year-old Inala man, an 18-year-old Acacia Ridge man and an 18-year-old Sunnybank man.
They are due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
This follows earlier murder charges laid by police on Thursday 6 August of another four men – an 18-year-old from Collingwood Park, an 18-year-old from MacGregor, a 19-year-old from Doolandella and a 19-year-old from Inala.
A 22-year-old Heathwood man was also charged on Thursday with one count contravening an order about information necessary to access information stored electronically.
Those five men were due to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday 7 August.
On Sunday 26 July, police were called to a disturbance involving a group of people in Discovery Boulevard, Bahrs Scrub.
They found a 21-year-old man in nearby Orchard Avenue, unconscious and suffering significant head injuries.
He was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition but later died from his injuries.
Detectives thank members of the community for the significant assistance, cooperation and support provided throughout the investigation.
Police particularly acknowledge residents, community leaders and representatives who worked with investigators and encouraged members of the community to come forward with information.
The assistance provided to police, including information from members of the public, has been valuable to the investigation and demonstrates the important role the community plays in helping police investigate serious offences.
