Long-term Logan Basketball general manager Mitch Young is stepping into an executive role with the sport’s peak body, Basketball Queensland.
Mr Young learnt to play basketball at Logan Basketball, before playing in the National Basketball League and moving into sports administration.
“I’ve been really lucky to make a career out of basketball as an athlete and an administrator and that all started right here at Logan Basketball,” Mr Young said.
“It will always be home to me and I’m really proud of what we have been able to achieve.”
Mr Young said when he was a started playing, Logan was a developing area and had to battle against the bigger associations.
“Now we are one of the premier associations in Queensland … the goal is to be one of the premier associations in Australia and we’re on that trajectory,” he said.
Logan Basketball has announced its new general manager will be Luca Vergari, who comes from Cairns Basketball, where he spent many years both playing and coaching before stepping into the general manager role.
