A man has been taken into police custody following a shooting at Eagleby over the weekend.

On Saturday night (11 January), emergency services were called to a Saverin Road property at around 10.10pm to reports of a gunshot.

A 36-year-old man was shot in the upper body, according to police.

“The offender is believed to have fled before police arrived,” a police spokesperson said.

“The victim self-presented to Logan Hospital and has since been transferred to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.”

Overnight, a man was taken into police custody at an Eagleby property.

However, no charges have been laid.

Investigations are ongoing.

Anyone with information that could assist investigations, including any CCTV or dashcam footage in the area at the time, is urged to contact police.
