Overgrown grass in parks and road verges across Logan has become a growing concern as summer weather fuels rapid grass growth.
Some parks, including popular recreational areas, have seen grass reach significant heights, making them less usable.
Logan City Council has acknowledged the issue and is promising increased efforts to address it.
Responsible for maintaining over 19,000 hectares of grass, including more than 780 parks, the Council says its mowing schedule has ramped up to match the challenges of the summer season.
“Unpredictable rainfall has impacted mowing schedules, as operating large vehicles on waterlogged ground can damage turf and its substructure,” a Council statement said.
“We appreciate residents’ understanding as we work to maintain the city’s many parks and road verges.”
To address the backlog, the Council has prioritised mowing its most popular parks and sports fields weekly during the summer peak.
