Fun Saturday looks to unite Beenleigh

A FAMILY Fun Day on October 5 at Logan’s newest pub is being presented as a true way of bringing the local neighbourhood together.
River Road Tavern, which is in a newly-built complex on Logan River Road, had its soft opening in July and has already generated a loyal following due to an extensive menu, live music and big screen.
The community day kicks off at 10.30am and there will be a sausage sizzle to accompany activities aimed firmly at families, particularly those with young children.
“We want this to be about the community,” manager Andrew Scrivenor said.
“We encourage all families to come along and enjoy the day. We’re putting it on for everyone.”
There will be free children’s activities, including a jumping castle, face painting, balloon atistry and a petting zoo.
For the bigger kids, there will be a bucking bronco.
Live music kicks off from 12pm, and Mr Scrivenor said there would be prices and competitions throughout the day.
He said the venue was working on an historical section which would tap into Beenleigh’s rich heritage.
The hotel’s management has already worked with the local historical society to source pictures displayed around the high walls of the liquor barn.
