In March, we introduced life-changing legislation for those living in residential home parks (or manufactured homes).
It was so wonderful to hear members of our community at Parliament cheering as the Bill was introduced.
The Manufactured Home Reforms Bill will limit site rent increases to CPI (or 3.5 per cent) and ban rent reviews that have been used to justify rental hikes.
And it wouldn’t have been possible without those of you in Waterford who raised concerns with me about how some these residential parks were being run.
I’m so proud to be part of a community whose unwavering advocacy has made real change, so thank you.
We’re also a step closer to the Logan and Gold Coast (LGC) Faster Rail and Loganlea Station Relocation projects!
Over the next six months major contractors will put forward their proposals for these projects, including design, construction plan, and cost – then we’ll progress with the winning proposal.
The LCG rail project will deliver major rail works between Kuraby and Beenleigh. And the Loganlea project will relocate and upgrade the train station – it’ll better connect you with the hospital, TAFE, and other community services.
In March I also had the privilege to celebrate our local women as I do every year at our Wonderful Women of Waterford Awards.
This is one of my favourite events and I had the privilege of acknowledging 67 Waterford women this year – all who have worked tirelessly in the community to support, help, and nurture women and their families.
Everything you do helps make Waterford the incredible community it is, thank you to everyone who came and shared in the celebrations.
A big thank you to all of those who turned up to my annual Easter Egg Hunt at Tygum Park.
It was great to see so many happy (and chocolate-covered) faces! I hope you’ve all had a wonderful and safe Easter break.
Thanks for staying up-to-date with everything I’ve been up to in Waterford.
