Shailer Park State School has recently finished 2023 with a bang.
The school re-established its Gala night, which incorporated a performance of Peter Pan at Redland Bay Performing Arts Centre.
Principal Karen Kuskey said it was a great opportunity to engage with the school community.
“It’s been a great year for our school,” she said.
“We’ve been able to work with our teachers around the new Australian curriculum which we will start to roll out in 2024.
“We’ve also worked with our local Early Childhood Centres to support with transitions to primary school.”
Throughout the year, the school has supported its students as they participated in a range of activities in and outside the school.
This included district and regional sports, the performance of Peter Pan, the Premier’s coding challenge, and “solid pathways” which is a weekly program for indigenous students.
A wellbeing program which was hosted during lunch times included cooking, gardening, coding, chess rock and water, Indigenous culture, art and social groups.
“Our core values are a true love of learning, developing confident resilient young people that are well prepared for meaningful future,” Ms Kuskey said.
In 2024, the new national curriculum swings into action, with innovative ways to engage students in learning, the principal said.
“We have a strong P&C that work tirelessly to support the school to provide the very best facilities for learning.
“On behalf of all Shailer Park staff, we would like to thank our school community for an amazing year of learning for our students, and wish them all a safe and restful break over Christmas.”
The school office will be closed until 15 January 2024.
However people can still find enrolment details on the school website, from where they can email the school over the holiday period.
