Winding down for the end of the year is always a wind up for the Logan Chamber of Commerce. For many local businesses this is the busiest time of the year. We’re all working hard to make the most of the silly season by filling orders, organising our team’s leave, making sure things run smoothly, and preparing our own families’ Christmas get togethers.
When you choose where to get your presents from this year, I encourage everyone to buy local. It means infinitely more to buy your toiletries, soaps, and perfumes from local artisans rather than big chain stores. When you’re getting food, grab it from your local grocer, fisho and butcher. If you’re filling stockings with toys, check out the smaller stores and game shops. If you’re helping someone take classes or experience something they’ve wanted for ages, check out who is nearby first.
Not only will you find something unique, but gifts and experiences in Logan build community spirit. Sharing your generosity and care with your neighbour grows our community in ways you’ll only see if you do it.
The Logan Chamber of Commerce has two more events for the year before we knuckle down into planning for 2023. Firstly, on the 7th of December at IKEA we have our traditional Christmas breakfast. Every year we get to celebrate what we’ve accomplished and how we’ve helped our community grow together. We encourage all the breakfast goers to bring an unwrapped present for the Woodridge Emergency Services, who we’ve partnered with again. They drive the big red fire truck, like Santa’s sleigh, to all the streets in Logan that need a bit of help and deliver the presents to the children in need.
As a business owner in Logan for the past 14 years, that is one thing I’ve learned. The more you give to the community without expectation or wanting something in return, the more the community gives back. No where do we see this as much as Logan’s businesses and I am proud to represent them in as their President.
