Proud of our P&C volunteers

I’d like to send a huge shout out to all of the amazing P&C volunteers we have at our Macalister schools.
Whenever possible I enjoy attending their events and seeing firsthand the difference they can make in our school communities.
The traditional school ‘fun runs’ have now been transformed into Colour Runs. These offer the students and parents an opportunity to be a part of the explosion of fun and colour, whilst raising much needed funds for their schools.
A special mention to three of the events I was lucky enough to recently attend, Windaroo, Mount Warren Park, and Carbrook State Schools. Between the three of them raising over $50,000.
I strongly urge all parents to consider joining their local P&C’s, to help the amazing volunteers we already have in providing innovative opportunities for our students.

Macalister leading the nation with hydrogen facility

Earlier this month we were thrilled to have Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk MP officially open the Hydrogen Centre of Excellence at the Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre in Beenleigh.
The P.I.C.A.C. Hydrogen Centre of Excellence is an industry-first training facility that will upskill gas plumbing professionals, enabling the Queensland workforce to begin the transition to a clean, renewable hydrogen future.
The centre is a crucial $25 million investment in the future of the Queensland plumbing industry. This is a world-leading centre right in the heart of Macalister.
This centre will ensure apprentices and those working in the industry receive high quality training to prepare them for jobs in new and emerging industries, like hydrogen.
I’m proud to be part of the Palaszczuk government that is focused on developing our hydrogen industry which is expected to grow by $19 billion and create 4,350 jobs by 2040.

$460 million Hospital Upgrade

The cranes have been named.
Logan Hospital’s twin cranes have been crowned ‘Boomer’ and ‘McCrane’
The names were chosen from more than 100 entries vying for the honour of having the name displayed on the cranes atop Logan Hospital’s $460 million expansion project.
Congratulations to winners Myah Excell, 10, from St Matthews Primary School in Cornubia, and Logan Hospital Perioperative Nurse Isabella Gardner.
The Logan Hospital Expansion Project will deliver an additional 206 beds and treatment spaces by 2024 – increasing the number of beds at the hospital by almost half.

Photo: Remembrance Day is a special day for all Australians. As a former service woman, I was proud to pay my respects to the service men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our great country.  Thank you to the local RSL, volunteers and school students who once again combined to produce such a respectful service for 2022.
