I congratulate you on publishing “Energy plan a waste of money” (MyCity Logan, November 22-28).
It is the best report I have read on this scam for some time. I would like to add that Professor Ian Philmer, a climate and geological expert, says that Australia due to it’s small population in a vast country of forests and grasslands and surrounding oceans is well below zero emissions as they absorb more carbon than we produce as a nation.
So it is a nonsense to spend billions on renewables when we do not need them to meet the Paris climate agreement as we are already there.
Why does our government choose to ignore this? They are all the same, committed to their masters in the UN demanding more taxpayers money.
I also read your interesting article on Beenleigh key to hydrogen training hub.
It will never take off and from what I am reading Twiggy Forrest is already having second thoughts as hydrogen costs a fortune in electricity to produce and is as much as twice the price of petrol .
Who is going to use it, and it is highly dangerous and has less energy than LPG or petrol and burns the valves out of conventional engines?
I experimented with it in an old car for a couple of years and it is self defeating pricewise to petrol. So these millions on these courses are a waste of money which could be used elsewhere especially on badly-needed infrastructure.
A better fuel which is environmentally friendly is LPG which the emissions-worried government is taxing out of the market. Why? Remove the tax from it and get everyone onto environmentally friendly LPG.
Brian Doherty,
Waterford.
