In my opinion, there is only one issue that matters in this election campaign, and that is the economy.
The outcome of this election is extremely important for the future of our country and its economic wellbeing. When the pandemic first hit, some forecasters were predicting that Australia’s unemployment rate could hit 15%.
But thanks to our government’s quick and decisive intervention, our jobless rate is now at 4%, a 50-year low. Employment is at the core of our economic security. Without a job people struggle to find affordable housing and feed themselves and their families.
The other issue affecting all Australians right now is the rising cost of living. Our inflation rate recently hit a five year high, but the government is acting to try to get prices back under control.
In the budget, we halved the fuel excise to 22 cents a litre, saving families every time they fill up at the bowser.
It is also worth noting that the price rises we are dealing with here are not unique to this country, and are largely out of our control, such as war in Europe and supply chain disruption.
Over the past two years the Federal Government had to make some very tough economic decisions, based on the information we had at the time. But we always did what we believed would be the best for all Australians.
We are now looking to the future, and the Liberal National Party has a plan to keep our economy strong.
Voters have a clear choice on polling day, if they want a strong and secure future, they must support the party that has a track record for delivering nationally and locally. That party is the Liberal National Party.
