For over 140 years the Beenleigh Show has amazed crowds and entertained locals.
This year, the show’s 144th run, will be no different.
The gates to Beenleigh Showgrounds will open at 9am on Saturday 23 September.
During the day, attendees will have access to Viv’s Animal Farm, with goats, sheep, alpacas, piglets, ducks and chickens, as well as a variety of exhibitions and stalls.
These include – cookery, horticulture, hobbies, art, photography, collectables, patchwork, spinning and weaving, and fruit and vegetable preservation demonstrations.
There will also be creative writing, art and language workshops.
Crowd favourite show bags, rides and games will also return, including the infamous dodgem track, Avalanche, bungee trampolines, rock wall, land train and others.
Other crowd favourites include the bull ride and the budgerigar information session.
As the afternoon approaches, show-goers can watch the bush poets perform, and even participate in the bush poetry competition.
The evening shows will include the woodchopping and tree felling competition, a whip-cracking show, and a sheep dog herding demonstration.
This demonstration will be led by kelpie trainer Erroll Gill and his skilled four-legged worker, George.
Mr Gill said the show would also include races, as well as some other entertainment that kids would enjoy.
“We’ll do a few fun shows for the kids as well, where one of the older dogs will pull the pups, that are only about 10 weeks old, around in a sled and things like that,” Mr Gill said.
“Each show will be around 15 or 20 minutes, so it’ll be good fun.”
And it’s not just the audience’s eyes that will be amazed.
Self-proclaimed bush balladeer Dennis ‘Dingo’ Dryden will take the stage to play his original Aussie songs.
“I’m a storyteller,” Mr Dryden said.
“I’ve been on the show circuit for about 30 years. And I did the Royal Easter Show for 17 years.
“I’m very happy to come do the Beenleigh show again – it’ll be good to come back and play, especially after covid with all the interruptions.”
Food, drinks will be available all throughout the day, keeping guests fuelled until the fireworks show at 8pm.
The ticket prices have remained the same as last year, with a family pass (two adults and two children) costing $35.
Individual adult tickets are $15 each, and a child ticket is $5.
Parking is available for $5.
