You hear but don’t listen

On Thursday 27th July we held a meeting at our clubhouse for residents to ask the Mayor and Deputy Mayor questions regarding the Rail Trail going through our community.

They arrived late and would only let us ask a few questions and only stayed for 15 minutes.

I have a right to protest and chant for the Rail Trail to be diverted around our community.

While questions were being answered there was no chanting as we all wanted to hear what was being said.

The council would only answer questions regarding the fencing.

They told us to apply for a grant to upgrade the fencing as they are not prepared to put security fencing through the corridor.

I find it funny that most schools in the Logan district no longer have chainwire fencing as it is easy to cut, jump or climb.

They say there is no crime in Logan, I gather they don’t live locally.

I feel that there are more projects that the money – 13 million – could go towards than a pathway which will only bring crime, graffiti and rubbish to our community.

What about all the people living in their cars or tents? Australians should be housed in proper houses rather than wasting money on very costly rail trails.

We were treated as unimportant old people, told to stop yelling and when the questions got too hard they finished up.

Not one question was answered totally. Their strategy was to come and get out of there as quickly as they could.

I have lived in Logan most of my life, I have paid my rates, I have worked permanently and feel my retirement is being put at jeopardy by the council not even considering to  “GO AROUND”  our community. Please “DIVERT THE RAIL TRAIL”

Help us to be able to live in peace in our retirement.
